Christmas Mood part 3

And here we are few days away from Christmas

I bet you after a day of work and running after last Christmas shopping you are tired.

We’ll do something a little different. As you have seen almost all cocktails and mocktails don’t require much preparations so you could just try fixing one up quickly for you and relax this evening? Of course, everything you will see here today is sure to impress a party but….why not just make a little and relax with a book or a nice movie? I am referring here especially to the nonalcoholic drink as I mostly do the others for friends but you have choices

Ok, let’s start with one of my favorites and very easy to make:

Angels Garden Mocktail

What you need:

–  Angel’s garden simple syrup

– tonic water

– orange slice or lemon zest to decorate

How you make it:

Now, why do you think it’s called simple syrup? Yup, that’s right, it’s simple to make

And I will let you in on a little secret: I make more and put it in a glass jar in the fridge. It can be stored like this for up to a month. Good luck getting to a month as it can be used for all sort of drinks not only for this mocktail.

Now let’s get to work:

Simple syrup:

You will need

– 2 spoons Angel’s garden

– 250 ml water

– 250 g sugar

you need the water at 80 degrees as Angel’s garden has as base a green tea.

So put the pot on the stove and when you see the bubbles forming on the bottom of the pot and water vapor just starting to boil you have your perfect temperature. Turn off the heat and steep in the Loose Leaf Tea Angel’s garden for 5 minutes (even 6 doesn’t hurt)

For easy use you can use a strainer or a whatever you have on home.

Not that the leaves are out put in the sugar and bring to boil, allowing it to simmer until thickened.

That’s it!

Now that the syrup is done, cooled down and stored put in a glass with ice (i skip the ice in winter, it’s already cold outside) and add tonic water. You can play around with the quantities depending on how sweet you like it. And you know what? Kids just love it

Now, for those of you that want something stronger the same syrup you just made can be put to good use for a:

Burbon Bergamot Cocktail

What you need:
– 60 ml Burbon
– 15 ml –  Angel’s garden simple syrup (description how to make above)
– one dash Meyer Lemon Bitter (optional)
– orange or lemon peel for garnish
How you make it:
Combine bourbon, syrup and bitters in a mixing glass.
Add ice and stir for 30 seconds.
Strain into a chilled rocks glass filled with ice.
Garnish and enjoy
