And here we are again
We have some interesting ideas that come with our Bubble Tea Box but it surely doesn’t stop there.
As you had probably guess already I am more for bubble tea that comes from…actual tea and love the fact that doing my own i can easily adjust the strength of the tea and the sweetness
Here is another one of my favorites: Green Jasmine Bubble tea
Green Tea China Jasmine works great for this bubble tea but today I tried it with China Jasmine High Grade JinJing Organic and it was absolutely delicious
What you need:
- 3 – 4 teaspoons of Green Tea China Jasmine
- 3 cups hot water
- 1/2 dried tapioca pearls
- 2 – 3 tablespoons honey or brown syrup
- 4 – 6 tablespoons milk (you can use one of your choice)
- ice
- wide tapioca straw
How you make it:
Cooking tapica pearls:
- Bring 10 cups of water per 1 cup tapioca pearls to boil in a large pot.
- Slowly add the tapioca pearls to the water. Stir gently.
- Wait until the tapioca pearls are floating at the surface of the water. Cover the pot. Boil for 2-5 min. at medium heat. (The longer the pearls boil, the softer they become). Turn off the heat and steep for another 2-3 min.
- Remove the tapioca pearls and leave them in cold water for 20 seconds.
- Place the tapioca pearls in a dry bowl and add brown syrup or honey to taste
Now, the brown syrup. First of all don’t worry, you don’t make this every time as I already explained in the Bubble Tea…My way, stored properly it can stay in the fridge for a month (today I finished the one that escaped by some miracle in the back of my fridge, probably hiding from my kids)
You need:
– 2 cups packed brown sugar
– 2 cups water hot
– vanilla extract
Now this is easy as 1, 2, 3:
1. put boiling water in a heat resistant bowl with the brown sugar, stirring until brown sugar is completely dissolved
2. add vanilla extract to taste mixing to combine
3. let cool down completely and store in a jar with lid in the fridge
Now we get to our delicious drink for the day:
- brew the tea as per instruction on the package (I use 4 teaspoons because I prefer it stronger but you can adjust) and remove the leaves at the end of the brewing time. You can add to it honey but keep in mind that you added brown syrup to tapioca pearls so don’t overdo it
- place 3 to 4 tablespoons of cooked tapioca pearls into a glass (you should be able to make 2 glasses but….depends. My daughter decided last time she made this tea to use a 1.2 liter mug so it’s up to you)
- add ice, tea and 2 tablespoons of milk and stir
- enjoy
If you want the bubble tea milkier add another tablespoon of milk. The beauty of this bubble tea home made is that you can always personalize and experiment with quantities.
I usually start with smaller quantities and add more milk or honey as i see fit
